Carrie Alice Herschman
Ms. Herschman is a Founding Member of the firm. She concentrates her practice in employment law and related litigation. She has concentrated her practice in employment and labor law for her entire career.
Super Lawyers Magazine named her a Super Lawyer in 2017 and 2016. In prior years, she was named a “Rising Star” in the field of labor and employment law by Illinois Super Lawyers (2010, 2012-2015). Ms. Herschman has successfully prosecuted wage claims in both state and federal courts, including claims for unpaid bonuses.
Ms. Herschman has successfully prosecuted claims for race discrimination, religious discrimination and gender discrimination, obtaining favorable results for her clients in and out of court. She has extensive experience representing individuals in all aspects of proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) and the Cook County Commission on Human Rights (CCHR).
Ms. Herschman regularly counsels executives on all issues arising out of the employment relationship, including negotiating employment contracts and, when necessary, negotiating severance packages. She is particularly knowledgeable about restrictive covenants and fiduciary duties.
Ms. Herschman and her partner are regularly asked to speak on current developments in employment law, including amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act. She is a faculty member for the Practising Law Institute’s Employment Law Institute, and is honored to serve as Vice President for the Illinois Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA/Illinois). She has served on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA/Illinois) since 2011.
Ms. Herschman is licensed to practice in New York and Illinois. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude, in 2004, and holds a BSJ from Northwestern University. In law school, she earned the highest grade in her employment discrimination law course, earning the CALI Award.
